Tis that time of the year. The one where our hearts get all warm and fuzzy, we break out the egg nog, spend time with family, and of course…listen to righteous tunes. Following up our holiday release last year, we got some of our favorite artists and friends together again for another compilation to compliment your holiday season. We even went so far as to team up with our pals over at Very Jazzed this year, and they have beyond a dream to work with, providing some crucial holiday vibes for this collection.
To sweeten the deal, we’ve made some very special “Totally Righteous” winter beanies with knit-in slogan, dual-color pom, and embroidered logo! Each beanie automatically comes with a free download of the compilation. And the best part of it all is that all proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish® Foundation, learn more here.

What better day to release a brand new beautiful album than on Friday the 13th. We’re privileged to release our second album with Sing Leaf. Following up his last sold out cassette, Watery Moon, this latest album is an evolution of David Como’s eclectic and soulful sound. Shu Ra continues to showcase the ease at which David transitions through endless genres and sounds, making something that is altogether unique and beautiful.
We’re happy to help put this into the world today on a beautiful light blue cassette shell with gold imprint. Check out the cassettes below and grab yours while you still can!
This project has been very near and dear to us here at Chill Mega Chill. We have such a privilege to work with bands like Brett that truly just want to make something awesome, and make the relationship between music and listener as special as possible. And that’s exactly how this project came together, though not without adversity.
We really wanted to make this release special so we decided to venture into territory we hadn’t explored much and put it on vinyl. But it just so happens that the vinyl industry is doing really well right now. So much so that every major vinyl plant has been extremely backed up this last half of the year. We wanted to release this a bit earlier this year, but because of the state of manufacturing the EP is taking about twice as long as it should. On one hand it’s a great thing because that means vinyl is doing better than ever, so much so that plants can hardly keep up with the demand. On the other hand it’s a bummer because it means what we wanted to release in late summer/early fall, is being pushed back to January. A big win for the industry at large, but a bit of a waiting game for us until then.
Due to all this madness all pre-orders will be sent a super special IOU package from us and the band to show our appreciation, and thank you for the support. We’ll have the vinyl in hand early January, but still wanted to get this project out. We figured a special little care package would be a good way to tide over the devoted supporters who ordered early.
Our annual Halloween compilation is officially here! And you can hear all 20 spooky tracks on Hype Machine right now!
Here’s what Hype Machine had to say about the release:
Since its launch on Halloween 2011, The Chiller compilation has become something of a seasonal tradition in the DIY music community. Presented by Chill Mega Chill and, this year, with kindred spirit Forged Artifacts, it finds the two labels recruiting scary-good new songs from some of their favorite artists. Already, The Fader’s been haunted by Ricky Eat Acid’s contribution (“ominous, spine-tingling”) while Stereogum got spooked by Minneapolis duo Some Pulp (“loud, brash, catchy as hell”). Now, all 20 tracks are unleashed (via double cassette, with trick-or-treat tote bag, stickers, and classic-horror trading cards) just in time for your weekend mischief.
We’re happy to release the first single off of Brett’s upcoming EP On Account of Your Love. The EP will be released November 6th, and be available digitally and on 12" vinyl (our second vinyl release!). Stay tuned for more special announcements regarding the release. There will be some pretty rad physical options surrounding the release.
“Street Cleaning” is an exploration of new love, how it consumes us and makes us feel invincible. It’s the lead track and sets the tone for the warm and wistful EP, which is sure to comfort you in these upcoming winter months. Listen to “Street Cleaning” below and let it tide you over until the full release in a couple weeks.
